SuSE 7.2 pop3 connection refused
I have a SuSE 7.2 box that is running sendmail and hopefully will be running a working pop3 server (ipop3d) soon. I've made sure DNS is working correctly. I have made sure xinetd.conf has a correct service entry for pop3 and it isn't disabled (I've also tried with inetd.conf, no luck there either, so pop3 is commented out and I'm relying on xinetd.conf).
When I try to telnet to the box on port 110 (or use a pop3 client), I get "connection refused". This happens even if I telnet "from" the box that ipop3 is running on. I'm positive that ipop3d is running as I have started it manually and its sitting there waiting, BUT it doesn't show up with a "netstat -a". I'm just wondering if I have missed a configuration file for ipop3d or if it needs to start out of the init scripts something? Can anyone explain why the connection isn't being allowed?
thanks
