SuSe 7.0 not communicating with Network (internal or external)

Hi,

I am a total newbie to SuSe and have successfully installed 7.0 (kernel 2.2.16), which I have upgraded to kernel 2.2.19. For some reason after all setups are complete, I go to the area where I can configure the network. I have tried both DHCP and a fixed IP address. I am using a small router that is also a DHCP server that has a public IP address (via a SDSL connection) and administers private ips (currently using both Mac OS X and Win 2000 behind this router). But for some reason, the newly installed SuSe system simply cannot access anything outside of 127.0.0.1.

For the past day I have been reading about all of the drivers to make sure that I have them. I am using a RealTek 8139 Chipset ethernet card. I don’t think that’s the problem at this point, but I have no idea because I am still learning much about networking, SuSe and hardware.

I am totally at a stopping point. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Sincerely,

Jason Novak

Already solved!

Thanks to reading some of the threads, I found out that it had something to do with BIOS.

Best Regards,

Jason
