Suse 10 smb asking for password when security = share


Hi Guys

Bit of a problem with smb - i created a share, made it browsable, set the security policy to share rather than user, gave access to the directory to all the users, and when i try access from my XP box, it pops up with a password request with the user set to guest and greyed out.

smb conf file below

try net use \\sm1054L /delete on the XP machine and try again

tried, no joy. for some reason it just keeps wanting to authenticate.

Try under the section that you want full access the following line (thats how I solved it with mine):
guest ok = yes

i set available = yes and it worked. is it just me, or are there more variable for smb than 5 years ago?

check "man smb.conf" and you'll see almost 7000 lines of samba goodness!
