SUSE 10 DSL connection problem

Hello All.

I just installed Suse 10 and I'm struggling with my
Earthlink DSL connection. I configured my DSL interface
and network card with the same settings I had on my
old Suse 9.1 (no problems there). With Suse 10 I can connect but I can't load any web page, and the connection
drops after a few minutes. It's a dynamic IP connection
and I'm using DHCP to assign DNS. MTU is set to 1492.
I'm posting a typical KInternet log that I keep getting:

Status is: connecting

I'm sure there's something obvious in here that
as a newbie I'm missing. From this I'm guessing
I'm not configuring my network card right.
Please, forgive my knuckleheadedness. But if
anyone can help, I'll be forever grateful.

If the wireless connection is configured correctly, but you cannot seem to connect to the Internet, it could be a DNS problem. I wrote a brief guide at another forum showing how to work around that problem. Look here --> link.

Thanks for the help, Cogar. I followed your
advice step-by-step but with no luck. I am stuck where
I was two days ago: I connect; both dsl0 and eth0 are up;
my ISP (earthlink) assigns temporary IP addresses; then...
nothing! No data transmission. After a couple of minutes the connection drops.

I have to specify that this is not a wireless connection.
I just have a DSL model and a CNET 200Pro ethernet card.
Could it be a firewall issue?

Problem solved! The issue was with network card. Turns out that SuSE 10
has a hard time with network cards requiring a tulip module. I found a
post in another forum suggesting to change the module from tulip to dmfe.
It worked!

Open Yast -> Network Devices -> Network card -> Edit -> Hardware details ->
change module name from tulip to dmfe -> finish -> reboot.
