suddenly, interesting Apache issues

I have installed the apache 1.3 rpms several times on several machines with great success
and little effort. I had a page I was serving to frineds via a link to the static IP and it worked great for about 2 months. I realized that it was'nt working one day, and decided just to reinstall the whole system since I needed to re-partition the drive anyway.
somehow, I STILL am not able to get this serving.
It brings up my page when I type "localhost" into the browser on the server, and I get a page when I type the servers eth0 IP on another machine on the LAN, but cannot get it to serve to the net via our static IP (which I have double checked) which worked so flawlessly before.
I have tried this with Apache 1.3 and 2 without desired results.
the default config worked perfectly before, so I do not know what the problem is.
I've checked the hardware and internal firewall settings, which are all in proper order.

any input or suggestions you may have about this problem are MUCH appriciated!

THANKS!!!
C.Poff

Are you sure your router is port-forwarding port 80 to the IP address of your server? If it's accessible from other computers withing your network, it doesn't sound like an Apache config problem.

you're right, I triple checked it and the router somehow lost the IP of the machine, without loosing any other settings.
oops.
thanks for the suggestion...... although not specifically linux related
