Succesfully been using smb4k but not working anymore

I've had debian for a few months, and when I installed it, it came with a program called smb4k. Which is something that uses samba to allow access to files on other computers on a network. Its been working for me for a while, I've been able to access files on windows computers that are on the same network as me. Lately though, no networks appear in the list and smb4k wont find any other computers. This has happened before to me, where seemingly randomly smb4k will stop finding computers then suddenly start working again. Now, it hasn't been working for a few days, I've restarted the computer but smb4k is still not finding any networks. The only relevant changes made that I can think of is that we recently installed a new router. But at least once after the new router was installed, I was able to access other computers on the network. I'm not sure what other relevant information is needed to fix this problem so if other information is needed just let me know what.

  1. Are you still having this problem?
  2. If not, what was the solution?
  3. What ver. of Smb4K was involved?
I suspect that Smb4K has had more than 1 update since you posted & that your problem has disappeared.

FWIW,
The Smb4K 0.1 Handbook

installed w/ Smb4K 0.5.2 on my SimplyMEPIS 3.3.2 system is still so childish that I don't use the software.

Some examples:
Quote:
from the 1st page
Smb4K 0.1 is an application specially designed to do nothing you would ever want.
Quote:
Chapter 1. Introduction
Smb4K 0.1 is a program that lets you do absolutely nothing. Please report any problems or feature requests to the KDE mailing lists.

from Chapter 2. Using Smb4K 0.1
More Smb4K 0.1 features
It slices! It dices! and it comes with a free toaster!

The Squiggle Tool is used to draw squiggly lines all over the Smb4K 0.1 main window. It's not a bug, it's a feature!

from Chapter 5. Questions and Answers
5.1. My Mouse doesn't work. How do I quit Smb4K 0.1?

You silly goose! Check out the Commands Section for the answer.
Quote:
the last pageConfiguration
Don't forget to tell your system to start the dtd dicer-toaster daemon first, or Smb4K 0.1 won't work !
AFAIAC, this "documentation" is a deliberate travesty & makes the program substantially less useful than it would otherwise be.
