Strange intranet vs extranet vs isp problem

Hi everyone,

I'm having a strange problem. Let me explain my scenario:

[The situation]
I have a FC6 server running at home behind a router with the ports I need forwarded. I've forwarded FTP (21), SSH (22), HTTP (80) to the static IP of the server.

[When in the LAN but using another computer]
I can browse html, ftp and ssh all fine. I've tried using the external IP and the internal IP and they work the same.

[When outside #1]
I tried to connect to the server at home from my office I could only SSH in, not HTML or FTP.

[When outside #2]
When my friend tried to connect to the server from her office it was just like scenario 1 (except SSH - that I'm not too sure of - I didn't ask her to download putty).

[When outside #3]
When my other friend tried to browse it from her house, she could HTTP and SSH.

[What now?]
I find it really strange.

- I feel like I've ruled out port forwarding problems.
- I've put the server in the DMZ just to be sure.
- I feel like I've ruled out firewall problems.

I appreciate any help. Thanks

I'm starting to think this isn't a linux problem anymore (that's probably why no one answered).

I did more Googling, talking to a bunch of people, and found out that from outside, at least in most ISPs, I couldn't ping my external IP address (the router didn't return the pings)!

This person had a similar problem: http://forums.macosxhints.com/archiv...hp/t-2412.html

It's funny though because from within the LAN I can ping the router. Either way, when I do a traceroute, it breaks when it reaches the router.

I'm using a linksys and apparently there have been problems with linksys doing this. If you guys have an idea how I can fix this, that'd be great. I'll continue looking and update everyone.

Thanks
