Howdy,
I was playing around with my computer today, when I noticed something odd. I have 3 computers connected to the internet through a LinkSys Wireless-G Router (WRK54G, to be exact).
nocturne.inflectus.com - My workstation.
minuet.inflectus.com - My server.
bolero.inflectus.com - My practice computer. It's where I play around and break things.
Anyway, earlier today, I was playing around on bolero and noticed that the network cable was unplugged. So, I plug it in, and I turned off the computer, because I had to run some errands. When I came back and booted bolero up, the hostname was now euclide.cu.lu. I thought this was a bit strange, but thought that perhaps my router had assigned some random name to the poor thing. I went on about my business, thinking nothing of it.
Then, I was perusing RedHat Network on nocturne and here's what I saw on my system overview:
http://www.inflectus.com/random/Screenshot.png You'll notice that my hostname is listed as design-cal.central.cu.lu. That said when I run $
hostname - it echoes nocturne.inflectus.com.
Does anyone have ANY idea why my computers (In Texas) are getting assigned hostnames from University of Luxembourg? Any advice on how to stop it? Thanks so much.
