Static Network config for PCMCIA NIC in RH 7.2
I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 w/ RH 7.2. I can plug my Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100 (RBE-100) NIC in and it loads the module and it recognized as Eth0. I can run /sbin/dhcpcd eth0 and grap an IP off of the DHCP server so that all works smothely.
what I CAN'T do is figure out how to assign a STATIC network config to this card. It is in the slot at boot and shutdown. I want to give it a static IP address so that I can use it for mail, dns, etc on my LAN.
How do I assign this static network info? I have edited the host file appropriately, but it doesn't do anything. I am assuming that this is because the network device isn't statically loaded, but rather dynamically when it is plugged in or the services for it start after the network services at boot or I just haven't read the right resource yet, or something.
I have (huge) holes in my Linux knowledge since I am a M$ B@5tard, but I am slowly moving away from MS and Linux is quite a challenge. Some help would be appreciated even if it is just a point in the right direction.
Thanks all
