static ip and a Win2K machine

First, I'd like to say that this board has been a lifesaver recently. I hope to turn around and start answering some posts as soon as I get a little more knowledge.

On to the problem....I have RH 7.1 and I assigned a staic IP addr. The Linux box is on a network that has a Win2K machine assigning ips dynamically to Windows machines. Everything was working fine until I rebooted and my IP got changed. I got assigned a number from the Win2K box. When I run netcfg on the command line I see my static IP addr that I want but when I run ifcofig I see the dynamically assigned # that I don't want. Its as if the Win2K is overiding the Linux. Any ideas??

What does the "BOOTPROTO=" line in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 say...any mention of dhcp? Are you running a DHCP
client or is your protocol set for static/none?
