Static address works but DHCP doesn't...
Hi all,
I just installed SuSE 9 to dual boot with WinXP on a Toshiba laptop. No problems with the network in XP but for some reason in SuSE DHCP doesn't seem to pick up an address. Here are some facts: -DHCP works when booting to XP. -As SuSE is first starting up I see that it times out trying to get an address using DHCP. Ifconfig shows some funky IPv6 address information for eth0 and the routing table is blank. I get "Network unreachable" when trying to ping anything else on the network. -Amazingly, if I set the IP to static everything works. Does anyone have an idea of what may be up with this? It would be a major pain in the butt if I have to leave it as static since I connect to different networks frequently... |
