sshd uses hosts.allow


Hi!

AFAIK ONLY the TCP - Wrapper uses hosts.allow and hosts.deny.
But why does the sshd use these files while inetd and tcpd are NOT running!?
I started sshd per hand: /usr/sbin/sshd

If i want to get connected with the sshd - server it seems i will have to modify hosts.allow before to work!

IIRC, I think the default sshd installation is compiled with libwrap support built in. I would imagine that you could compile sshd from source without the libwrap support. You might want to take a look at these for more info:
