sshd / ssh question..

i'm wondering if i can let sshd notifies me when a user
from outside(which is not me) logs on

it'd be great if it can notify that someone has failed to input correct password..

what i can think of is
when /var/log/auth.log changes
somehow execute a program with appended logs as a parameter
and the program make different sounds based on the parameter

oh well, after i've written it down,
it looks ok..
but the first part
how i can monitor if auth.log file changes without much load..

thank you

swatch is a fairly low overhead log watcher. It is fairly customizable and pretty stable.
