No problem, just out of curiosity, I am guessing you have some sort of a VPN/OpenVPN or a SSH server implemented in your home network, right? Only asking because then if I am a public hotspot, I would need something like that in my home network to connect to?

As I said, this module in my Forensic Computing course has peaked my interest highly. I am going to learn things like openSSL, GNU Privacy Guard (don't have a clue what that is lol), Entropy, cross-site scripting etc and a lot more ALL through Linux in my university. Hence why I made a account here to make it a bit easier, a lot actually because she cannot answer all my questions in a given time lol

My home server is running a standard OpenSUSE Linux installation, including an SSH server using a unique listening port to help block unauthorized access. The infrastructure that provides encrypted SSH tunneling from a remote location is no different than that that provides typical SSH access from a remote machine on a local or remote network. There is nothing special about OpenSUSE either, that's just what I use as a matter of preference, but pretty much any Linux distro could provide the same infrastructure to support SSH tunneling.
