ssh tunnel / port forwarding Q

Here's the situation. I'm at work behind a proxy/firewall. I want to be able to access a few websites that are blockt (nothing nefarious, just like Gmail for instance) through an SSH tunnel to my Linux box at home. (FC4 running on it)

I can currently SSH into it through port 443 from here. I have full console access using PuTTY.

I have tried to add a tunnel, but from what I gather, using the SSH tunnel will forward requests to the remote network. What I want to do is hit my home box through the tunnel, then go back out to the internet to retrieve a given site.

Thx

Since some sites my use multiple servers and rewrite urls the best way would be to set up a proxy on your remote machine and tunnel the proxy port to your local machine.

Remember to check with your work IT policies to make sure you are allowed to do this, we wouldn't want you getting fired

I'll be looking into a proxy solution... but I want to try this for one or two sites to kinda build my linux-fu a little bit.

As far as the work policies... well... it's rumored that many people do this type of thing. It's only 'rumored'... I don't know 2 specific people that do it.
