SSH Slow Response/Session Closing

I am running CentOS and when I log into my box via SSH, after a few minutes (sometimes sooner) the server will not respond to my input. For example, I will start to type something and no characters will appear on the SSH terminal. After a minute or so, the server will respond and pring that characters. Sometimes, it just gets stuck and I get a response of "Session Closed". This happens constantly, so it is virtually impossible to get any work done. Any ideas?

What CentOS release?
What sshd version?
What client ssh version?
Does the server or sshd log something?
Anything changed from default (config)?
Any similar network problems with other (interactive) services on the server?

The only log information I get is that I was logged in successfully, but nothing else.

No. I checked and the ssh and sshd config are the same as always.

This is the only interactive

Does this happen only from remote, or locally as well?

What type of connection does the server have?
Do ifconfig and read the MTU value.. is it 1500 or is it less?

Check the MTU at the remote end.
