help with setting up login to server remotely using ssh ( post #1)

i am also trying to set up login to ccentos linux box on windows at home using ssh.

if i am using my ip address to login:

1. do i add the ip address in /etc/hosts
2. do i also make changes to sshd_config and enable listenaddress, port #
3. do i have to add anything to hosts.allow

or is there anything else i need to do because all i get for error is connect to host [ip address] port 22 connection refused. when i do stat it says the port 22 is listening on localhost but i can't figure out if it listens to ip address [dns]. i don't know what is wrong. please help.


i was wondering what files i have to chage and what i have to enable to ssh into linux box?

let me know. it will be of great help and will be able to get lot more work done compared to less hours i can spend in office.

It looks like a firewall issue.
Do you have a firewall (on the client and/or on the server)? Is it iptables?

nope no firewall. i figured out my problem. i just had to register it correctly. thanks
