SSH from the outside....

Hi I'm running RH9 on this PC, and I have an SSH server up and running.

This PC is behind a router, well, I suppose you could call it that. It's using a cable connection shared by another PC on the LAN, running Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing.

I want to be able to access my SSH server on THIS PC, not the router, from outside.

To do this I think I need to find port 22 on the router to this computers IP address, which is 192.168.0.131 on the network. I've done this on the router, but when I portscan the router, it says port 22 isn't open. I'm doing it by scanning 192.168.0.1, , the routers IP address on the network, and also by scanning the computers external IP address.

Shouldn't port 22 be open, and when i try to connect to it shouldn't it forward the connection to the PC running the SSH client?

Have I missed something out?

Thanks

On your router you will need to find a way to forward port 22 requests to your Linux box's IP address that is sharing the connection. Unfortunately I have no idea how to do this as its a Windows machine using ICS.

Regards.

Ok, I thought that's what I had done by adding it to the settings bit in the advanced tab, anyone got any ideas?
