SSH dynamic port forwarding

Hi everyone,

I've setup dynamic port forwarding using Putty, SSH and Firefox.
All works well when visiting normal websites (servers listening at port 80). But why can't I visit https websites?
Nothing seems to be happening when I visit those ...

Any ideas?

cheers,
Jeroen

You are making a port forward to some proxy, i guess? Does it allow connecting to port 443?

I'm sshing into a linux server. Dynamic tunneling via port 9999. I simply fire up putty, add a dynamic port (9999) and connect.

But, you are right. I can't wget HTTPS-pages on the server. I can wget HTTP-pages. So it's a server side issue. This gives me something to google on:)
