Squid server with 2 NICs

Hi All,

I am trying to get Squid working with two interfaces as follows:
eth0 - LAN - 10.18.10.0/24 with IP of 10.18.10.11
eth1 - DMZ - 10.18.20.0/24 with IP of 10.18.20.11

eth1 is connected to a test PC at the moment with 10.18.20.12 IP.

Squid has basic configuration to allow 10.18.10.0/24 via port 3128 and the firewall has 3128 enabled.

While performing tcpdump of eth0 and eth1, and doing traceroute on squid server of 10.18.20.11 and 10.18.20.12, I get traffic on both eth0 and eth1 as expected. However, if I try accessing the net via browser from a PC on the LAN, I only see traffic on eth0 and eth1 remains blank.

Anyone know what I am missing?

Cheers,
Vlad

Can you explain the firewall? This is the point where I lost it. I understand you connect to your squid server on your LAN network 10.18.10.0/24, port 3128 (it is set as this in the conf file? It is the default, but I thought I'd check). The the squid server will talk to the internet via 10.18.20.11, eth1, port 80. I'd have thought the firewall would be letting through or masquerading port 80.

Perhaps I just misunderstood your configuration

Hi Paul,

Got it fixed. I was trying to have the proxy server a gateway and transparent proxy. I also have a proxy on the other side of an ASA. So I ended up configuring, with the help of a workmate, the LAN side proxy as child and the WAN side proxy as the parent. It all works now.

Cheers,
Vlad
