Squid requirements

Hello,

I currently have an old 200MHz PC running 128mb ram and a 3.2gb hdd with a static ip on my DMZ. The unit has RH9 and acts as my mail, web, dns, smb and internal ftp server. All works well but i'm looking to get squid going.

My Internet connection is 2Mb ADSL and i have this running though a Watchguard FB II firewall.

Within the HTTP Proxy i can configure traffic to pass through a proxy and therefore wish to get a decent cache setup.

As i'm sure you can already see my current linux system is too slow and hasnt enough space. I'm looking to get a new system so run the above services plus Squid.

What spec do you recommend? And am i likely to run into any problems with using RH 9 or fedora core 2?

Which is best? Any advantages to using Fedora?

I reckon 512mb ram would be best but not sure on cpu speed or hdd space.

Cheers!!!!

G
