squid problem


which authentication mechanism is better to use with squid? also how to enable user authentication at squid server?
i gone thro' squid.conf but i think it require some sort of authentication previously installed?

It depends on what your client machines are running? If they're Windows clients, using the winbind authentication helpers via Samab is the easiest and most convenient for end-users. They will either be automatically authenticated if using Internet Explorer, or simply prompted for the domain username + password. You can use other authentication methods too, all depends on what your machines run.
