Question

I am having a strange problem i am not able to solve.
I am using RedHaT 7.
I am using the squid proxy server for machines on my LAN to connect to the internet. Just a week ago i changed the ISP i use to connect to the internet. However i did not change the ISP DNS server name in /etc/resolv.conf .It was working fine with the new Connecion.

However yesterday while assisting a freind in setting up his internet connection in Linux, i opened Linuxconf and opened the
Networking | Client Tasks | Name Server specification (DNS) section. There i could see the name servers (of the old ISP). I just clicked on 'Accept' and acivated the changes. Note I did not change anything. Ever Since i hasve done that the machines on the LAN cannot connect to the NeT and Squid gives a error saying :

Refused: The name server refuses to perform the specified operation

I am not able to figure out which files /settings linuxonf has modified. Can anybody help me?

Thanks in advance.

Allan

Try putting your new ISP DNS in. You were probably still effectively allowed access to the old one until they deleted your account. I had similar when switching ISP earlier this year, able to download pop mail over second connection for 2/52 then it stopped.
