squid - ftp = connection failed
 

I just setup my mandrake 9.1 box and installed squid-2.5.stable11. Proxy works fine only when trying to download files with ftp:// I get the following error

While trying to retrieve the URL: ftp://ftp.gameplanet.co.nz/pub/patch...12_release.zip

The following error was encountered:

Connection Failed
The system returned:

(111) Connection refusedThe remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.

But if I download from http:// no problem even if I bypass proxy using the ftp:// it works. Here is my squid.conf:-

Squid.conf file exceeds character requirements for post so I can't post my squid.conf file.

any news on this? i've got exactly the same problem.

strange thing is, when i crank up the squid binary as root or as "sudo -u squid", it works no problem. but when it is being started by init.d, all urls starting with "ftp://..." result in the above error message.
