Squid And Ftp

Hi All
i have setup Suse 9.3 in a box with 2 nics, in a network with other 2 windows boxes, and through Firewall i pass all internet trafic at port 80 through Squid Proxy. How I can make firewall to redirect my FTP requests from my windows clients straight to the ftp server and not through the squid, or how i can make Squid to redirect all ftp requests to the other nic wich is the external one? I have manage to redirect pop3 and smtp requests straight to my isp so my windows boxes can get the mail straight, but i can not do the same with ftp requests from my windows boxes. Thanks A Lot.

Did you want to do this without touching the clients? If so, might be difficult without some deep packet inspection filters, which is slooooow indeed.

Otherwise, can't you just turn off the FTP proxy settings in your web browser or FTP clients? Also, try using passive FTP on the clients if you've done this but the firewall or your NAT rules are improperly configured for the FTP data channel (which is inbound destination port tcp/20).

Use FROX for transparent FTP proxy.
It will do the needful in your scenario.
