Dear friends,

I am in a kind of situation. The squid allows anonymous connection to the ftp site. When ftp site requires "username" and "password", the squid doesnt relay the message to the client computer and message: PASSED ...LOGIN INCORRECT..etc.. message get displayed on browser. I added to squid.conf: "ftp_user Squid@ "...it worked for some site but not for all. what do i need to do? pls do help

Probably, you have to specify username and password in the URL (supposed you use a browser):

ftp://username:password@ftp.site.com/path

This is very insecure. Your username and password will be logged on proxies,
FTP servers etc.

it would have been a good idea if I was the ONLY user. Unfortunatley, there are many and I have been asked to solved the problem. Is not there any way thru squid.conf or ....in proxy server side???
