Question SpeedTouch USB and ICS

I need to share my Internet connection between two computers. I use the Alcatel/Thomson SpeedTouch USB (the old green revision 0) to connect to my DSL Internet connection (PPPoATM).

In Windows it's very easy: Just get the driver then use Windows ICS.

I managed to get connected to the Internet (using SpeedTouchConf or the linux-usb.org method), but I don't know how to share this connection with another PC (Linux or Windows, whatever works).

In my research, I found solutions for sharing an Ethernet Internet connection with the LAN but couldn't find a solution for my PPP connection (especially with the SpeedTouch USB).

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Just don't suggest buying a router, because I can't afford it right now, but I'll get to it eventully.

Also, if it's not a trouble to you, I'd love to know how to make it re-dial automaticlly if disconnected (or stuff like that, anything, links will do).

Note: I don't need a specific-distro instructions because I'm experimenting with different distros , you know, trying to find what would work best for me. But in case you must know I'm using either SUSE 10.0 eval. (GNOME) or Ubuntu 5.10 or Novell Linux Desktop 9 (Service Pack 2) or Slackware 10.1 (GNOME). So you see, I won't have a problem either way).

Thank you very much

ip forwarding (*NOT* ics... ) is a generic overlay for whatever network transports you have running. it works exactly the same way for ethernet interfaces as it does for ppp ones. firstly enable ip forwarding (echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward) then enforce a masq rule on the external interface (iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE)
