speed limiting
 
hi everyone, ima new member to this forum.
ima pclinuxos user. my isp has limited my speed. i use2 get arnd 20 b4 bt nw i get arnd 10kBps atbest. i confirmed abt this becz the officials of my isp also told me the same n also dat my situation is unlikely to get back. Can any1 tell me if its possible to get rid of this speed limit thang in linux. help will always be appreciated. oh by the way..ima newbie in the world of linux.

Hello and welcome to LQ.

First might I politely ask that you use the spellcheck before posting as your question is rather hard to read.

As regards your question, if your ISP has deliberately restricted your connection speed I doubt that anything can be done, but if the speed reduction has come about because of using Linux then maybe there's a setting to be tweaked. We really need to know a bit more about your problem and also details of your connection type etc.

Im sorry about the words. No my speed is the same as what i get in windows xp. my lan card is connected via rj45 wires to a DSL modem n that is connected to my distributor via telephones wires and my distributor is connected to the ISP.
