Specify outgoing interface for ICMP

Hello everyone,

my problem is that I cannot figure out how to force my server to use ONE of two interfaces to send ICMP packets.

I have two interfaces: eth0 and eth1 and want to all of my ICMP Request send with eth0. Can I do that with iptables or something else?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Chris

It really depends on your network config (same subnet?, static routes? etc.)

You can use: ping -I <interface> <ip_address>
You can also block ICMP traffic on specific interface in iptables etc.
