Hello. I have two ethernet cards on my computer each connecting to two differnt places. I was wondering if it is somehow possible to setup a proxy type server so that if I set up the program to use a proxy which will be on this machine it will route all the programs network activity through the secondary ethernet card.
Someone told me to play around with privoxy and see if I could get it working that way. I have everything down to the fact that all I need to so is setup privoxy to use the secondary ethernet card but I do not know how to do so.
If I cannot configure privoxy to do so is there a small app that I can use to do this.
Thanks

Does each of the network cards connect to a different subnet? If so this is generally a matter of just having the routing tables correct. You could also use the route command to specify that certain IP addresses/subnets should be routed through a particular Ethernet device.
Yeah they are two networks and I just have lan from each connected to a differnt ethernet card in my computer. I have the subnet for both 255.255.255.0 should I not? The thing is that I want to have it so that I can connect to one when it is forwarded so that I can only get onto that side of the router to the ftp/http servs. But when the program is not forwarded via a proxy(ie privoxy) it will goto the primary card I have and will/can only access that sides servers.
check out the owner module in iptables. this will let you mark packets based on things like the uid or process name of the process, and then use routing tables to route thos marked packets. this would presumably negate the need for any explicit application config, but you've not really done the best job in the world of explaining what you want to achieve...
