Spams, mangled emails and kernel failure question.

After an absence of about a week, I downloaded a lot of email stored on my ISP (skymesh.com.au). Since I receive a lot of spams starting about six month ago, I promptly "deleted" those supposed to be spams but when checking the others, I found the "from" and the "subject" now relate to other emails.

For example an expected email from Alice on the subject of Picnic is really a spam and the real email of Alice about the picnic is under the spam "From" Rayshell Jernigan <rayshellgouzr@hotmail.com. The "To" (which I just discovered by printing the document) is: "kruger@skymesh.com.au" (I am not kruger@skymesh.com.au), the subject is: "Dottin Miccoli" and there is a sort of signature (I am illiterate on the subject) at the bottom as follows:

It is only by accident I discovered the mangling of my emails because a valid (to me) email had the contents of another valid email but 2 valid emails I was expecting contained junk.

I have reported the problem to my ISP and I am awaiting their answer.

To confuse things even more, I got 2 messages, when trying to read my emails, that a kernel failure had happened and a report had been forwarded to the appropriate maintainers.

My questions:

1) Is my ISP sending emails destined to somebody else? If that is the case, I will open a ticket.
2) Is there something possibly wrong on my Asus laptop that created the kernel failures? Or the mangling of the emails? Or both? If that is the case, what should/could I do?
3) Can I safely read these emails to see what the contents are?
4) If some (valid) emails are deleted for good, should I be able to recover them from my ISP?

If there had been no kernel failure, and you had problems with the wrong headers in E-Mail, that would sound more like either a problem with the E-Mail handling, or some deliberate attempt to fake things, or some malicious program "infecting" your computer, or some sort of external "attack", etc...

But with the kernel failure it seems potentially too coincidental. With the kernel failure you may just plain have some scrambled data. That it isn't more scrambled, seems a little odd.

Your description of the problem with E-Mail made me think that just information in headers is "switched" around between messages. Is that what you meant? Or is worse than that? Have you looked inside any E-Mail? Do you find "junk" scrambled sequences of characters in the E-Mail?

Do you use an E-Mail provider that has a "web" interface, or otherwise keeps a record of the E-Mail they process for you, that you can access easily? For example, if you could access some web based interface from another machine, and there are copies of some of those messages on your E-Mail providers system that you could examine, that might tell you whether the
problem is likely related to the kernel failure.

We really could use some additional details to help you.
