Sound as user

I know there are at least five threads with this topic, but none of them is appliable to me.
I installed Fedora Core 5 and as a user I don't have access to my audio devices. I add my user to the rights of that device(I think it was the ONE : "dev/dsp"), still no change.
As I root i have sound, but as user no.
I even added a new group(that is the sound group) as some other threads advised, still no change.

No audio group? Sorry, not that familiar with FC, but that's usually the fix is adding your user to the audio group.

That's why I created the sound group, because I don't have sound or audio group . Still no change.
