Sooo confused HELP

Hi heres my situation. Windows XP and Suse 9.2

Connected them both together with a crossover cable

Clicked on the network card in Windows and configured it as follows

192.168.0.1
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.1

enabled sharing

then in suse i configured my netwok card to

192.168.0.2
255.255.255.0

My question is everytime i Ping my windowsMachine i get host unreachable am i doing something wrong?

Also what goes in the routing section of Suse?? is windows my default Gateway??

Cheers for any help

Andy

That should work. Are you sure you don't have Windows Firewall enabled that prevents ping requests? Can you ping your Linux box from Windows, and are you sure it's actually a cross-over network cable? As for your default gateway under SuSE, yes, that should 192.168.0.1, the IP address of your Windows machine.
