SonyR600HFPD Laptop with SuSE7.3 Connection problems to LAN

Hi, Can anyone help please?
I have a SonyR600HFPD Laptop that connects fine through the docking station in XP to our LAN. The problems start when I try to connect to the LAN through the RJ45 direct port built in Ethernet 10 BASE-T/100 BASE-TX with SuSE7.3 Pro. I Understand that SuSE7.3 does not recognise the built in Ethernet card, as it is too new. I was advised to try
#dmesg | grep eth
and look for problems in the output.
This gave me the following message.
dmesg tells me that there is a "Tx timeout" and that there are no IPv6 routers present.
I am not sure if the Ethernet card is detected but set to the wrong speed or if this is not the case.
Failing that are there any drivers for SuSE7.3 and this build in network card out there.
Many Thanks
Graham

What kind of network card is it? Most nics nowadays are 10/100 base tx. That just means it will work on a 10Mbit and a 100Mbit network. You need to find out what kind of card is in there to find out which drivers you should be using.
If the command 'ifconfig -a' shows anything about eth0 then it should have found the card.
I'm not sure what the message about ipv6 is all about. Do you have a ipv6 lan? Or did you by accident set it up as ipv6 instead of ipv4?
