some problem about install on cluster
Hi:
Friends. We are working on set up a linux cluster with 50 PCs. We want to know how to install redhat linux 9 onto each machines. need i to install linux one by one. Regards |
well firslty don't use redhat 9, why would you want to do that? it's 4 years obselete... use rhel 4.4 / 5.0 or centos 4.4 / 5.0 if you want a new equivaent.
secondly look at kickstart, which can build a personalised redhat installation from a configuration file. you can also use a pxe boot server to provide this over a network alogn with the installation files so you'd only need to run the pc's on, plug in a network cable and they'll do the rest automaticlaly. |
Thank you very much!
We are going to perfrome the parallel computation on the cluster. by the way ,what is the pxe boot server |
if you genuinely are clustering boxes then really there's no point installing on the machiens themselves at all. i'd suggest making them boot to a network if it's possible, then they never need an installation process at all.
