How to compile snort for it to be able to run in inline mode?? I tried using
"--enable-inline" while doing ./configure but it says "Warning: Unrecognized option
--enable-inline".. and if I do ./configure without this, everything goes fine, then make
and make install also goes well but while starting snort, if I use -Q (for inline mode),
it gives a fatal error, "pcap daq not support inline" and quits... Pls someone tell me
how to do it..
What version of snort did you download? And what distro are you trying to install it on? Versions 2.9+ don't use --enable-inline anymore, this is why it won't work. Have a look at the following thread - https://forums.snort.org/forums/snor...with-snort-ips
Well, I have Snort ver 2.9.0.4 (Build 110) installed in my pc and Snort ver 2.8.4.1 (Build 38) installed on one of my boards.. When I start snort on my board using the -Q switch, it starts without an error but doesn;t show that it is running in inline mode.. It just displays
"Reading from IP Tables
Running in IDS Mode "
And when I start snort using -Q on my PC, it gives an error displaying
"Error-pcap DAQ does not support inline
Fatal Error-Quiting"
Now, should I downgrade to 2.8.4.1 on my pc so that I can run inline mode OR there is some way to make pcap DAQ run in inline mode??? Pls reply asap...
