snmptrapd service problem due to which error is in logs.

Hello Friends,

I have a CA tool running on distribution server whose logs shows errors, as shown below:

Dec 7 13:59:55 stg02 SEAGENT[12167]: ERROR: Failed to connect to the Distribution Server tcp://<IP_address>:<port_no.>, rv = 11 : Server not connected.

for security reasons I mentioned <IP_address> and <port_no> above IP address of my distribution server and port no. respectively.

I have checked the snmpd service's status which is running, but when I checked snmptrapd service's status it shows me an error, mentioned below:

[root@stg02 ~]# /etc/init.d/snmptrapd status
snmptrapd dead but pid file exists

I think the problem is snmptrapd service is dead that's why I'm getting error in logs.

If this is so, then what is the solution? Any idea, please help me.

Bumping your own thread only serves to remove it from the zero-reply list, which decreases visibility. Also, be aware that we volunteer our time here...coming back 4 hours after your initial post and bumping your own thread, doesn't give us much incentive to help you.

You're using RHEL...since you're using it, I'd have assumed you'd have checked RedHat's knowledgebase or called their support...you're paying for both. If you did, you'd have found that this was reported as a bug, and fixed. You should just have to apply the update.
