Snmptrapd reception problem

Hi everyone,

After passing a lot of time searching a solution and a lot of headaches, i'm coming to you hoping an explanation ;-)

So, I want to receive trap from my routers and specialy "LinkDown" and "LinkUp".
The router send the informations to my server, doing tcpdump we can see the trap coming.

My problem is snmptrapd. Verifying in the logs, (/var/log/snmptrapd.log) i see only 1 trap on 3 almost.

I tried from another server to send traps in command line:

Code:
snmptrap -v2c -c public @IP '' .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.3 ifIndex i 541 ifAdminStatus i 1 ifOperStatus i 2 .1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.1.541 s "eth1"
and i have same problem => 1/3 trap received by snmptrapd.

I'm totaly lost and i can't see what the problem.

Thanks all,
And waiting your advises and your lights !

Centreon => 2.7.0
CentOS => 6.7

What do you mean 1 trap on 3 almost, 3 traps of link down? What are these 3 traps?

Hi Nini09,
When I say, "1 trap on 3" is for example:
1- I launch a command snmptrap LinkDown, I see it with tcpdump, and I see it in snmptrapd logs.
2- I launch a command snmptrap LinkUp, I see it with tcpdump, and I don't see it in snmptrapd logs.
...
I have to send the snmptrap several times to see it again in snmptrapd logs.
Thanks a lot for your time,

Does snmptrapd receive these notification? Use -d option to monitor the sent and received SNMP packets.

I will try with -d. But does the problem can come because of too much traps coming on the server ? And because of this, snmptrapd can't handle all the traps coming in ?
For now I don't know how many routers are sending traps on this server, but at the end we will have about 900 routers sending traps on the server. Can the process handle all this ?
Thx

I think I found the problem.
I put a Firewall on the server listening only 1 router, the 1 i am doing test on it.
And now i have all the trap I want on my monitoring. I now need to change configuration on all my routers to send only what i need ;-)

Someone know how many traps can be handle by 1 server ?

Thanks all,

It should be Ok if your server can handle 10G traffic.
