I've installed Smoothwall on an prehistoric computer and got it logging on and connecting to BT Openworld. :-)
However, none of the other machines on my network can get on to the Internet. :-(
I had (have) a Win2k machine connecting and sharing no problem, using address 192.168.0.1. I've made the Smoothwall box 192.168.0.2 and made it a DHCP server. I can do
http://192.168.0.2:81 and see the Smoothwall box from a browser on any machine on the network. It says I'm connected, but I can't see the Internet from any machine.
I've changed the default gateway of Windows machines to 192.168.0.2 to no avail. My Mandrake machine can't get on the Internet either, so it's not just a Windoze thing.
Is there something else I have to do on the Windoze machines, or do I have to set up something else on Smoothwall? Is it possible that the Firewall side of Smoothwall is blocking all traffic. I must confess I don't really understand how a firewall works, I tried putting one on my Win2k machine and it just stopped my Internet connection working altogether!
Cheers,
Rob.
