Smoothwall & NIC's

Hi Guys, please be gentle with me. I work in IT but only with windows. The problem is and I really need help on this. I am trying to set up smoothwall on a hp500 laptop. Smoothwall detects the 3com nic that is in the laptop ok, The problem is I have put a second PCMCIA nic card in but smoothwall does not detect it. My problem is I know nothing about Linux and I don't know how to get the drives into smoothwall so it can pick the card up

Can anyone please help me. I would be so so grateful

Have you contacted the Smoothwall people? They should be able to help you out. Smoothwall isn't just any Linux, you know. It has high security, so some normal things won't work. For example, it takes over the whole HD, nothing you can do about it...

I give my ESP a rest on Sundays and I guess I missed your post yesterday - can you elaborate on the second NIC? Manufacturer/Model # might generate some more helpful responses.

of course sorry should have done that already. Ok I am using a HP500 Laptop 700mhz 10Gb hard drive. Smoothwall picks up the internal nic card which is a 3 com card. The PCMCIA card I am trying to install is a 3com 10/100 model number 3ccfe574bt

Sorry I know nothing about Linux so please explain in kid terms.

Many thanks in advance
