smbclient gives ERROR_NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

I am trying to give a popup from my Samba server to a Win XP Pro client.

It is logged in as machine lmxp025 (visible in smbstatus) but if I try:

echo "message" | smbclient -U username -M lmxp025

I get Failed to connect to lmxp025. ERROR_NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

How should I call this machine? I prefixed it with he domainname, and I tried a few backslashes, to no avail, so far

I found it already! Messenger service was turned off, and it should be ON. The error message is misleading, as usual for Microsoft.
