SMB problem

im trying to connect to my win2k server and it works but everytime i reboot my linux box it gives me an error message saying svc: bad direction 65526, dropping request and i cant access my server. Someone told me that i need to start up the linux box first and that worked but i dont want to keep having to reboot both my systems just to access my files on my other computer. can anyone help?
