Small File Sharing Server Questions

Heyas,

I have been using Linux for a few monthes now. A friend and I want to start a programming project for this summer and we figured it would be easiest to have a server to keep our up to date code on, rather than constantly e-mailing and IMing the code back and forth. I figured I'd try making an FTP or P2P server so taht we should easily share the files.

I have an older computer that would work as a server, but I do not have much room at all to put it, so I wanted to set it up, then put it in a corner or a closet or somethin, with a power cord and a network cord. I do not have the room to have anoter computer set up, but in the event that I need to service it, I would need some kind of remote server software. Could someone give me some ideas on what kind of software I coudl use to do this? I am planning on the server running Slackware 9.1 and my desktop runs Slackware 9.1 as well.

Thanks,
Chris

You don't need any special software.

On Slackware, both SSH (for remote control) and FTP (for the actual file sharing) are both going to be installed by default.

Just install Slackware, and your server is pretty much going to be ready for use.
