smaba is a great problem

Dear Fellows

I have shared a folder " test" existing on linux red hat machine using samba between win and linux system
i have set read and write permissions.

path =
read only = no
public = yes.

i can see all files exist on "test" from win machine , i can also create files from win machine in test

but i can not make change in files directly from win machine.

another thing when i create a file in "test" from win machine , i cant make changes in it from linux machine ..and file create with nobody user.

i want sharing like windows , access a file from anywhere change it and save it to on its acctual location

Is there any solution.

waiting for your positive reply

Thanks

You need to be sure that the file permissions in the "test" folder are 777 so that everyone has rwx permissions to it.

Ya.
Like Cowan says, you need to do something like ----

create mask = 0777
directory mask = 0777
security mask = 0777
directory security mask = 0777

that oughtta blow it wide open for your windows clients.

and be sure to include those options in every samba "share" you create.

My pleasure, Mr. Tulip. :-)
Unfortunately, I have never set up a samba printserver on a Windows machine.
I have only used Samba servers on linux boxes, and had the Windows machines log in as clients to the Samba/Linux primary domain controller.

But I think you could get a good start on what you want through this guide:

http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch10.html

Scroll down to the section titled: Printing to Windows Printers

HTH,

Mike
