Slower Internet connection with Ubuntu than with Win 7
Hey all,
I'm a noob to Ubunutu Mate, but it's part of a Windows 7/Ubunutu Mate dual boot system I use.
Not sure why, but the connection to the Internet is not as fast in Ubuntu as it is in Win 7. I'm hard-wired connected to a the modem, connected to the router -- my step-father is the principle user, and he's connected as well to the modem. In Windows 7, the connection screams. No problems. In Ubuntu, it's not as fast -- not noticeable until I open a few tabs in Firefox, have a Youtube ready to go and things like that.
Some current settings:
DHCP
Per Ifconfig:

Network settings (in Ubuntu: System > Administration > Network
GENERAL: My name; nothing under Domain name.
DNS: 127.0.0.1
HOSTS: Local Host and My name show IP 127.0.0.1
I'm wondering if I'll need to change the DNS to match settings on the router as given by our Internet provider, but I'm not sure.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Starkman
