Slow internet connection
Hi!
I have a router and a notebook that connects to it by wireless for access to the internet. The problem is that the connection is slow while i use the browser. The LAN connection (for example with VNC to access another pc in the network) works fine and very fast. On the other PC (windows pc, wired connected to the router) the internet connection works ok. In the laptop, the wifi card led(that blinks while transfering data) stop blinking some while. I dont know this is important. Any ideas? thanks PD: A courious think, the youtube videos loads very fast, and the led dont stop blinking while the video is loading... |
Usually when a computer runs fast for most items, but is slow while browsing the Internet, you are looking at a DNS issue. Does your notebook use DHCP, or does it have a static address. It almost sounds like your notebook has the wrong DNS information for the Internet. You could look and see what WAN DNS addresses your router has, and then on your Linux box run cat /etc/resolv.conf from the terminal and compare them to make sure they are the same.
