Question Slave server config

I feel as if I am missing something when I have read pages on setting up a slave server. Seems simple enough. All I need is:

zone "masterdomain.com" {
type slave;
file "masterdomain";
masters { 1.2.3.4; };
};

zone "3.2.1.in-addr.arpa" in {
type slave;
file "masterdomain.reverse";
masters { 1.2.3.4; };
};

is that it for the zone files? Is there a full SOA file for each zone? By that I mean with all the NS, A, and CNAME records included? Documentation I have seen seems to leave the records off. Thanks.

AFAIK a slave gets the SOA records from the primary nameserver. Start it up and you should see the db files appear in the designated dir. Btw I can't see no errors. What does the named log say (bump up debug level if necessary)?

this setup is in a classroom environment with the instructors machine as the Master. I will set up mine as a slave on Thursday. I just wanted to make sure that all I needed to do was to put those two zone statements in named.conf. The master will do the rest then?
