So I have my Access points MAC address in the output from iwconfig.

when i entered this command
Code:
 wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -Dwext -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf &
dhcpcd wlan0
it said that "dhcpcd is already running

the output from
Code:
 lsmod | grep ath
says that im using ath9k

So when I go in wpa_gui the status, Authentication, Encryption, SSID, BSSID keep flashing. status keeps saying associated/scanning, the other ones just go black. The one that says 'Last message' Disconnect event - remove keys/ associated with my AP MAC

mh, independently of wpa_gui, do you have a connection via your wireless network? did you check this? plug out your ethernet-cable and try to send a ping to your router.

Okay Im at my g/f's place and when I started up X I brought up firefox. It would seem that I can connect to any un-encrypted AP. So it would seem I have a problem with encrypted AP... Any thoughts?

So I'm at home now. I tried to ping my wireless network, with ethernet cable unplugged. I can not ping my network wirelessly. How would I go about checking if I have wireless connection, what shell script do I check this?

I do know that I have wireless connection when enryption is not used. So it must boil down to enryption as the issue.

I was going through the wpa_gui and found that it says Status: WPA AP detected
When I generate PIN it doesnt let me use the PIN in: AP PIN

Okay so I fixed the problem with wpa_gui, its all sorted out on that end. It now says that its connected, however when I unplug the ethernet cable. I tried to ping the AP and I still cant ping, and even using a web browser I cant get a connection. I would really like to fix this problem, i'm soo close getting it to work. I can still get a solid connection when no encryption is needed. Can some please help me, i'm so close!
