Also, modprobe pcnet32 for good measure, since we're not sure what's what.

Yah, mine is located in:

/lib/modules/2.4.33.3/kernel/drivers/net/mii.o.gz. I don't have the locate utility on my system. Odd, I figured it would be in the linux-utils package. I had to look manually.

Well, it seems there is something wrong with my custom distro. I do a modprobe on both mii and pcnet32 and I can't get online. So something is missing. I'm just not sure what it is.

Okay. I new it was in the "n" series. Didn't have BIND, didn't have curl (even though I have libcurl), and one other package. I'm up now.

Another dumb question if someone doesn't mind. Do I need to do a modprobe and restart inet1 ever time I boot? Or is it possible to have it do that by itself?

Hi, phantom_cyph. Try modprobe.conf; otherwise just put an explicit modprobe statement in rc.modules. In /etc/modprobe.conf, you need something like
Code:
alias eth0 pcnet32
Not sure about pcnet32, but that's where your ethernet card driver goes.
