Slackware: How to connect a linux box with a static IP to a E2500 router with tomato
I have an E2500 router flashed with Tomato by Shibby and openvpn client. I have a windows 7 box that works fine.. I also have a Slackware linux 14 box with a static ip. The E2500 won't see the linux box.. I would like to know how to do get my linux box hooked to the router and run all the services, mail, imap etc.. Can anyone help??

Is the Slackware box's IP in the same subnet / on the same network as the router? Can you ping the Slack box from the router?

No ping.. I have put my ip 173.160.***.*** in the static dhcp, and my windows box is an ip 192.168.**.**. Alot of people said thats all I had to do.. I have searched everywhere!!
Now when I put now when I put the ips for the router in eth0:0 and make the gateway 192.168.**, I can connect but have no services..

Your Slackware box needs to be in the same subnet.
If your router is say 192.168.1.1, and your netmask is 255.255.255.0 (typical), then any device on your network needs to have the ip 192.168.1.*
There's no need to put your Slackware box's IP in the static dhcp table on your router, since the Slackware box is not using dhcp. Just make sure the Slackware box's IP is not in the router's dhcp range or you may run into a conflict down the road.

If you're in the same subnet now, it should just work. How did you put yourself into that subnet? and also, is it, in fact, working?
